We photographed these cranes at Paynes Prairie State Park. Why are two of them white?
Answer:
The gray birds are Sandhill Cranes, but the two white birds are Whooping Cranes. Seeing them was a rare treat! This pair is part of Operation Migration, and they learned the migration route to Florida by following an ultra-light aircraft piloted by one of the people that raised them.
