
Another garden challenge.  Nancy found this creature in our garden.  What should you do if you see one of these?
Answer:
This is a Bee Fly, Family Bombyliidae.  They are harmless to people.  They drink nectar, which is why it has the long, thin mouthparts.  It shape and coloration resemble a bee, which gives it some protection from predators.  Since they help pollinate flowers, you should welcome them to your garden.
