I was very pleased to take this photograph. What makes it special?
Answer:
This is an American Crocodile. I took this photo in Everglades National Park, near the old Flamingo Marina. While Alligators are very common, there are very few Crocodiles in the Everglades, making it a special treat to see them. There has never been a report of an American Crocodile attacking a human in the Everglades, but in Central and South America attacks are not uncommon. This is a small one, only about 8 feet, but they can grow up to 20 feet long.
