This is a pine needle. The photo was taken in the rain, and the water brought out the details nicely. The rows of light spots are stomata, openings in the leaf that allow gases to move in and out of the leaf. On pine needles, the stomata are lined up in grooves, and recessed, to help cut down on water loss through evaporation.
