What is unusual about this bird's nest?
Answer:
This is a Belted Kingfisher. Unlike most birds, who build nests in trees, bushes, or on the ground, Belted Kingfishers dig long burrows into the banks of streams and rivers. These burrows can be as much as six feet long. They slope upwards to protect the young birds from rising water.
