There are several special things about pronghorns. First, they are not antelopes. They are the fastest land mammal in the Western hemisphere, and the second fastest in the world. In spite of their speed, they are horrible at jumping, so they tend to crawl under fences instead of trying to jump over them. This has led to a push for replacing the bottom strand of barbed wire fences with an unbarbed strand.
