I found this fossil in Devonian limestone in Middle Tennessee. It is the remains of a ferocious predator. What sort of creature was it?

This is part of the shell of an Orthoceras, a relative of the Nautilus. Instead of coiling like the shell of a Nautilus, the Orthoceras had a long, cone-shaped shell, divided into chambers (which you can see on the fossil.) Like modern squid, they were active predators near the top of the food chain
