wax and wood part 2
What fun! We really like your experiment part 1 and part 2 style. We tried the following things to get the wood and wax to change but we didn't figure it out!
We tried adding a charge via a comb run through static-y hair, no go. We stuck a 9-volt battery, thinking maybe that would be a stronger charge. Nope. We tried really strong magnets. Oh well. We also blew on the top of the water, and this made all the parts go to the edges. Lastly, and most successfully, we rubbed oil (could have used wax) on the inside of the glass all the way around the water line before filling it up. This did made the water bulge at the sides instead of crawling up the glass but it didn't move the wax to the outside.
When we watched part 2, it was a "duh!" moment. We knew about surface tension and that you can fill a glass "more" than full. :-) Thanks!
