Who would think that there could be so much science in a pot of boiling water?

Finally...
finally the age old saying is proven wrong!!!
Awesome Videos
Your videos are great! You inspire me to be a scientist and I hope you continue this for a long time! I was wondering if you could put a little more free videos though.☺
Sincerly from a student in Mr Scheuch's room,
Tyler
P.S. How long would it take to boil some water from a lake or something that is not clean to make it drinkable?
RE: Awesome videos
Thanks Tyler. I just posted another free video, and more are in the works.
Once the water reaches a good, rolling boil, most kinds of harmful germs would be dead. There are some that can resist boiling temperatures, and boiling does not remove pesticides or other harmful chemicals.

NICE
Krampf
I think you should try hiding the microphone in your beard.
Then you won't be able to see it.
P.S. did not know where else to post this.
thanks
Science
I have a question for you how can we breath air? Why can't we breath in water or the ocean?
Lungs and gills
Fantastic question! Gills work very well for exothermic (cold blooded) creatures, but they do not supply enough oxygen for endothermic (warm blooded) creatures. Gills also need to have water flowing past them, so the in and out breathing system that we use would not work. Water is also much denser than air, and our diaphragm (the wall of muscle that works our lungs) is not strong enough for pumping water in and out.
Beard
LOL! I will have to try that!
see video
thanks
Excellent
Very good! Thank you, makes a lot of sense and answers questions I didn't even know to ask! :)
About the little water droplets, they seem to disappear eventually. Is that because the droplets are evaporating, and turning into real steam / water vapor?
Types of bubbles
I always wondered why the first type of bubble would stop, and be replaced by the 'flashing' bubbles!
Very interesting!
kool!
my sisters and i were wondering, is there a quick way to make a cloud in a jar?
thats really cool
i will have to try that! thanks!
i love it

Morgan from Ms.Webber's Class
The video is so cool i never new that. Your website is so educheional and very fun once again the video is so radical!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your Admirer,
Morgan
Awesome!
Thanks Robert. Great video and explanation. One of your best I've seen so far.
RE: Cannot view video
Internet Explorer 8 changed the way that they handle some website commands, which causes problems for some sites. You can find more information, and how to turn on compatibility view at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956197/LN/
Cannot view video.
What is "If you are using Internet Explorer 8, be sure that compatibility view is ON." compatibility view?
If using IE8 there is a
If using IE8 there is a little symbol of what looks like a page tearing at the very top of the screen/toolbar (next to where you type in the web address). Apparently clicking on this symbol helps solve some of the compatability problems that have been found with some web pages. BUT it hasn't worked for me!
I can't view ANY of the videos on here any more. AT ALL! Where have they gone?! I've gone into the website after a few months absence, tried IE7 and IE8 (with compatability view on) AND firefox. But when I click on the thumbnail of the video the link just takes me to the sentence about IE8 compatability. REally frustrating!! HELP!
Viewing the videos and your account
After checking, I found that your membership has expired, so that is probably why you can't watch some of the videos. If you can't watch the free videos either, then try emptying the cache in your browser. If that still does not fix the problem, send me and email and I will track down the problem.
Hi Robert, I was unable to
Hi Robert,
I was unable to view even the free videos, even after emptying cache. However I've just renewed my membership and ALL the videos are back again! I'm not sure what was going on there, but it seems to be sorted now. We've been missing you! thanks.
