Excellent! This is a Bald Cypress tree. Unlike most other conifers, it is not an evergreen. It drops all of its leaves in the autumn, and the bare branches give it the name "bald."

Its special roots, called Cypress Knees, are also unusual. It was though that they stuck up to let the roots get air while the base of the tree was under water, but studies have found that removing the knees does not lower the gas levels in the plant. It is now though that they add stability.
