A Venus Flytrap does not get any of its energy from the insects it captures. Why not?

Answer:

While "carnivorous" plants get nutrients such as nitrogen from the insects they capture, they get their energy from sunlight and photosynthesis. They are not capable of digesting the fats, carbohydrates, or proteins from the insects to use the stored energy.
