The Earth rotates once every 24 hours. As it turns, if you are standing on the Earth, the moon seems to rise and set every day. Now, imagine you are standing on the Moon. How often would the Earth rise and set?

It has been far too long since I posted an alligator photo. This one was taken at Shark Valley, in Everglades National Park. The area is flat as a pancake, and more than thirty miles from the nearest salt water, so why is it called Shark Valley?

While many parts of Death Valley are below sea level, there are places where the ground is exactly at sea level. If you compared a cubic foot of air at sea level in Death Valley with a cubic foot of air at sea level in Florida, would they weigh the same? If not, which would be denser, and why?

On my way home from last week's teacher training, I was lucky enough to stop by the Blue Heron Wetlands in Titusville at a time when there were a few Swallows. Is there an advantage to this many birds flying around together?
