Thistles can be quite tasty. Have you ever eaten one?
Artichokes are a type of thistle. Those tasty artichoke hearts are actually the base of the immature artichoke flower. When it blooms, the artichoke looks very much like other thistles, except that it is much larger.

i had to pull all the spines off first tho.
