I just got a new "toy" that lets me use the Nikon digital camera to take time lapse movies. The device is called Pclix ( http://www.pclix.com/ ), and it is very easy to use. You attach it to your digital camera, and lets you set the capture rate, anywhere from 1/10 of a second to one shot every year! I doubt that I would ever need that slow a time lapse. I have been playing with it, and am very pleased with the results. This is 5 minutes of cloud movement condensed into 4 seconds.
I am hoping that this will let me show all sorts of things that we normally miss, because they happen too slowly. I want to get plants turning to face the sun, flowers opening, seeds sprouting, tides coming in and out, and that is just the starting list, so you can look forward to this effect in upcoming videos.
Shot with the PClix and my Nikon D70S. I used Quicktime to join the frames into a movie.

That is very cool! I'm sure
That is very cool! I'm sure you will have lots of fun with it and we will learn lots as you apply it to our weekly experiments!
Thanks for all your hard work!
